2013: Health Problems of the Millennials and a Vitalistic Approach

The Octagon will host its 2013 conference April 11-13 on the campus of Life University. A faculty will consider aspects of the current, emerging and anticipated health issues of the demographic loosely titled ‘the Millennials,’ or the ‘Internet Generation.’

Many issues have been identified for this group; among them is the fact that, without some significant changes in their overall lifestyle habits and decisions, they are on track to have an extremely high incidence of lifestyle-related chronic disease and debilitation. Current orthodox public health efforts are not making substantial inroads into this problem. Is there a better way? Can a philosophic orientation toward vitalism offer the basis for a new paradigm that can potentially connect more thoroughly to this group?
